Dear reader,
A new year has started and it is that time of the year again. It is time to look at what we will be doing this year. What are the goals we are going to keep to and what are the dreams we are going to follow. Since last year I started with stating these goals on a whiteboard that I have in my room next to the door. Because I see it everyday these goals and dreams are becoming part of my daily life. Last year I did an in dept review about how I set my goals and dreams out for the year. Check out last years blog.
This year I am going to use the same style and layout for the whiteboard. Almost all of the goals and dreams I have came out. I have done all but not all have been as successful or they just slipped under the goal. The greatest thing about this set up is that at some points you realize that you are actually finishing off goals and dreams faster than you think. This year as I mentioned in last week's blog I am going to do a check up every 12 weeks to see if I am on track.
My goals and dreams for 2021:
Just like 2020 I am going to use the same format. The sections are divided into four pieces with personal goals, financial goals, health goals and dreams. These are the most important parts of my life that I can divine and where I can make the most changes that will impact me for the rest of the year or the next year to come. I choose to keep to these same four areas because I believe there is more room for improvement and I know that these four have done a great job in 2020.
For each and every area I am going to put in three goals or dreams. With just a small subtext to explain how I am going to reach that goal. Some are the same or similar to last year. This is either because I have a bigger goal and each year I need to stick to smaller goals or because I want to challenge myself to become better at things than I have done last year. I will be explaining more in dept about each and every goal.
Personal goals:
- Uncomfortable action: one a week. I learned this from a girl I met in Portugal and she challenged me to step out of my comfort zone more. So that is what I want to do. Every week I am going to do something that takes me out of my comfort zone. I will keep a journal of this and share it with you at the end of the year.
- Read 52 books: one a week. I stepped up my game last year by reading 27 books while my goal was 20. Towards the end of the year I was lagging with reading and I could not get motivated. My goal was reached long before the year was over. So this year I am going to up my goal by 62.5% and challenge myself to read one book a week. It doesn't matter the size or difficulty. I have to read one a week.
- 12 challenges for 2021: Monthly challenge. Last year I did some challenges like No Fap, vegan month and not drinking for 90 days. These were fun and interesting challenges to do. So this year I am going to do it differently. Every month I am going to challenge myself to break or make a habit. For so far I have been able to create six challenges for this year. If you have any suggestions leave them in the comments below.
Financial goals:
- Save $5000,-: monthly saving, Yes this is the same as last year. While this goal was good to reach I also needed to use some of the money because I lost nearly 1/3 of my salary due to the pandemic. This shows that it is important to save money. This is also still a realistic number to reach so I am going to go for it again.
- Have a third income stream: work on more income. I have two streams of income. The mainstream is my salary and the second one is dividend from stocks. While I don't see this in my bank account because it is in separate investment accounts. At the end of the year I reinvest the dividend to create greater cash flow. The most wealthy people have up to 7 income streams so it is time to step up and build the third. What it would be and how it will work? I don't know but as soon as I am there I will share it with you.
- This last financial goal has to do with my investments. I have chosen not to share this one because it is a personal goal to not share with the entire world.
Health goals:
- Food: Cook vegan once a week. I have started to experience eating vegetarian and vegan. With excluding meat from my meals I have felt more energy and my skin has been doing much better too. So I am going to step up my game with vegan food too. I want to cook once a week vegan. This means that at least two nights a week I will be eating a vegan dish and hopefully it will improve my health and energy levels during the week.
- Workout: Morning stretching and three workouts a week. I have noticed and learned that stretching is very important. You need to be able to move freely and keep the blood flowing in your body. I want to make a routine that I stretch every morning once I get up. Because of the lock down and restrictions on the gyms I have not been able to work out like I wanted to last year. So I am going to workout by myself. Twice a week I will be going for a run and once a week I will be doing exercises to keep myself strong and healthy.
- Sleep routine: fixed sleep schedule. Because of the crazy year it has been I have noticed that I have not been sleeping as effectively as I want to. I sleep in late some days and other nights I stay up working or watching a movie. I want to keep a routine where I go to be and wake up at the same routine every day. I need to focus myself on my job and on my business. I need to use the time effectively and having good sleep is part of the deal.
Dreams:
- Have my own apartment: move in as fast as possible. I truly desire to have my own apartment that I can call home. Once I have this apartment I feel that I can start doing more and different things in my life. With the housing market going crazy and prices of rentals going up it is going to be very hard but I believe that I can find my own place.
- Have a girlfriend: go out on dates. I might have miss wrote the goal last year that is why I am being more specific. I would like to have someone around that can motivate me to do more and that gets my out of my bubble once and awhile. I tend to work and be busy the entire day. So having someone around that would be a great team member can give me a good boost. Of course I have great qualities to offer too.
- Becoming an entrepreneur: registering my business. My focus this year is to expand Moments 2 Success as well as expanding on projects that I am working on. My dream is to have my own real business that makes money and provides a good or a service. I am going to develop different plans to see how I can start my business and I dream to register my own business.
From my experience last year it was a good success to have all my goals clear on a board to see what I want that year to become. Last year I did a blog where I discussed that your goals and resolutions should work out from the first of January until the 31e of December. Because all of our goals continue in the year and not all of them are met right away. Some need more twitching others need more time to be able to complete them. It is just good to keep focus on what is important for you at the moment.
Just like last year around every twelve weeks I will be checking up if I am on the right process to reach my goals and dreams. If it is not the case I can spend the next quarter working on them a bit more. So ask yourself what would I like to accomplish this year? What are some of the wildest dreams that I have that have not yet been able to realize? Write them down and have them somewhere where you can see them. After a while you will see that those dreams and goals are becoming a reality.
Thank you for reading and see you next week!!
