Resolutions:
Allot of people make new years resolution. It is the time of your life you can start clean and follow your dream. Wether your resolution is in health, love or finance it takes more than just starting the 1e of January.
Your goal with the resolution is that you achieve something in the new year. Your date goal is not set for the next week, month or few months. Your goals is set for the next December 31. Take the first months to fail. It is okay to fail, but the most important part of failing is that you learn what you shouldn't do. You won't be able to get all the exercises right at the gym in the first week nor would you be able to run 10k after one week or month. It takes small little steps to get there. The most important part is that you stay dedicated to your goals.
What's my secret?:
Well I don't have a secret, I use my vision, imagination and my experience. I listen to other people what they have done to reach there goals, thats my inspiration. I try out new ways of setting goals because others have failed, thats my experience. I use the tools that are at my disposal, that are my vision and imagination.
I like to visualize, everywhere where I work, eat or sleep I have a pen and paper with me. If something pops up in my mind I don't want to forget or have to do I write it down. The same goes for my goals. I love whiteboards, they are super easy to use and you can adjust any thing you have written on their at any given moment. They are super cheap and you can hang them anywhere.
I am not joking, whiteboards is my secret. I have got six of them in my bedroom. All with different goals and different achievements. I can change the layout of them if it doesn't suit me. I can use them horizontal or vertical, I can use different colors of markers for different things. it is my number one go to tool at the moment for setting goals.
How do you use them?:
It is very easy and simple, use your inspiration and imagination!
What might work for me doesn't mean it has to work for you also.
The most important thing is that you should keep it clean, use a ruler to separate different goals.
Don't write out whole texts, just a few simple words can do enough. Make clear statements so if anyone else sees it they can understand what your are working on. It is okay to change the layout or to adjust the goal. But the main focus should be that the goal stays the same no matter what!
My resolutions:
I spilt my board up into four pieces. Personal goals, financial goals, heath goals and dreams.
For each area I made three points. (keep it simple, don't make to many resolutions you can't keep up to.) Make a clear statement what each goal is about. Underline the statement in just a few words how you are going to keep to the goal.
I am going to highlight the first goal of each part, you will get where I am going with this.
Personal goals:
* Procrastination: (My goals is to not let to many things wait for the last minute)
- Take action! (Every day I am going to write down my tasks for the day, I can clear my list in just a few hours)
Financial goals:
* Save $5000,- : (Make realistic resolutions, don't uses numbers that you know are out of your league.)
- Monthly saving! (Set up an automatic deduction in your bank account that transfers the money to your savings, now you don't have to think about it.)
Health goals:
* Alcohol: (I am not a big drinker but sometimes I also like to drink, I focus a lot on my health so I need to watch and control my alcohol usage.)
- Reduce to zero! (Drink a month no alcohol, if you enjoy it well make it two or even three.)
Dreams:
* Find love: (I like to meet new people and I also crave for romance and intimacy.)
- Date! (Ask the girl for her phone number or ask the girl out on a date, the only way to find it is to go after it.)
And now you!:
It is time to work on your own dreams and opportunities. Remember your resolution is not something that can be achieved in one day. But one day will make a difference. Rewrite your goals 10 or 100 times until you find what works for you. You have got it in you, sometimes you just have to dig a little deeper.
Remember, it are your! goals not of your partner, kids, parents, colleagues or who ever. Keep them a secret or share them with the world so they would cheer for you once you have achieved them.
Let me know how you set out your goals and follow your dreams!
Thank you for reading and I will see you next week!
