Dear reader,
There are weeks that you are filled with inspiration, other weeks you are testing and trying stuff out. For this week it has been that last kind of week for me. The world isn't stopping and sometimes inspiration has not landed yet. The question is what am I going to talk about this week? What am I going to write about or what kind of video do I want to make? The well of inspiration has run dry for the moment.
That is what this week is for me, staring at a blank blog post with the intention to write a post every week. Some weeks are full of great ideas and others well, are not. Often during the week I start looking at events, books I am reading, people I listen to to gain inspiration what to write about that week. It doesn't happen often that I have no idea what I am going to write about. Except for this week. I had some different ideas but I was not fully convinced that I could write a honest part about something that I could not support. So this week is about that. This week I am going to share what it is like when your inspiration dries up and what I do to get inspired to create great content and how you can make these moments your success.
Be honest:
The most important thing is that you stay honest to yourself. If you can't fully deliver and you didn't feel that you have gave it your 100% then don't publish it. It is okay that you lack inspiration at some moments. It happens to all of us. If you create content next to your job and family life then sometimes things can get hectic to be able to stay focused. The motivation may even drop and you start questioning yourself if this is really something that you should be doing. It happens to me to.
My goal is always to have a post done by Sunday afternoon. Sometimes I feel that I need to quick make something because I have not published anything yet. But to be honest I did not have any inspiration for this week. There where somethings that I would like to write about but I felt that it would not be sufficient enough to post that. If that is the case I give myself an extension of 24 hours max. I can use this time to maybe rest, walk, ready or to do what ever is needed to gain that inspiration. I don't want to rush into a post I don't feel comfortable enough to just post because I want it done that day.
How to get inspired?
Everyone gets inspired in different ways, by different people and at different moments. Some artist sleep with their guitar because you never know when inspiration may show up. A don't for inspiration is just to keep focused on achieving that one goal. If you do that you will lose more and more motivation each time. To keep the inspiration going you need to get yourself distracted from what you want to get done at the moment. So go do something else.
For me I get inspiration at times that I am alone with my thoughts, no distractions and often just when I have a peace of mind. These moments are when I am in the shower, meditating, walking or running. I have no distractions of phones, computers and people. Also I have a piece of paper and pen within reach. If I have a good idea I can always write it down so I won't forget. By using the notes function on my phone I can add ideas whenever I am on the road.
Inspiration and success:
Not having any inspiration can be a good thing to, this can lead to new ideas that you might never had before or that let you see and think about things you would never see or think. Even some of the greatest inventors went dry once and a while. Bill Gates has an inspirational week, this is week where he goes out to read about things that he has no knowledge about. The most important thing when it comes to inspiration and success is that you don't stay focused on it. The distractions I have mentioned earlier can come in great use.
We are not a machine that can go on for ever. We need a break once and a while to recharge and gain new knowledge and inspiration. By admitting that you don't have any inspiration and taking a break can lead to get new things. It is not failure but gaining more success for in the future. I have learned that inspiration can turn up at the most unpleasant moments but once you got that inspiration you are full of motivation again. You will become more successful if you acknowledge the fact that you sometimes need to take a one step back to gain two steps forward.
After all I have been able to fill up a blank blog post with hopefully inspirational content that you can use whenever you feel that you are lacking any kind of inspiration. The key for me is also to keep change in topics that every week there is something new and something different for you to read about.
Thank you for reading and see you next week.
