Dear reader,
What a year it has been, it has been a year that probably nobody thought it could ever happen in their lifetime. With lock downs, economic down turns and civil unrest around the world it is the year that most of us want to forget quickly. Unfortunately this is just the beginning and I think there's more to come. But this week's blog is not about all the terrible things that have happened. This week is the last week of the year and it is time to celebrate the year, our successes and look forward to the next year to create even more successes and make our dreams come true.
If you have been following me from the beginning of the year you could have seen what a turbulent year it has been for me. All my hopes and dreams that I had were taken away and I had to go back to the drawing board to make changes. The changes have been made and adjusted to the situation that we have found ourselves in. In the last few blogs I have done some reflecting about this year and I don't want to make this another reflection on the year blog. I do want to make this my story about starting with something and keep going with what you really enjoy. This will hopefully be an inspiring blog that if you have a dream or a goal that you can do it. I hope to inspire you to gain your success.Start:
Sometimes things look so easy. Someone that makes YouTube videos, that writes a blog or has a podcast. But even if they have started out with nothing, okay some people do have the connections or a status that makes it easier to step into another level. But for the rest of us that are starting at the bottom and looking at the misty sky to see where the top is, it is a long road and you can't see what is waiting for you down that road.
Just like most of us, the start is always the most fun, full of energy and ready to go. Everything is set out. In your mind you have played the video over and over how you are going to do it. You start your camera, plug in your microphone or start up you first blog page. Then...?? That is the time where the doubt comes to mind. Who is going to read, listen or watch it, what if it sucks, can I actually do it? These questions can make or break a person and it is important to understand how much you let this voice in your head determine what you want to do.
For me the start was just like this too. I had all these questions and I silenced them by just doing it. Eventually the voice will turn around and support you instead of doubting you. The start is not the hardest thing to do, the hardest thing to do is to keep up the work and keep yourself focused to produce every day, week or month. I know it sounds much easier than it really is, I have had countless times that the voice in my head said that it was okay to do something different. But you should not let him take the over hand.
First mile:
It is just like running, I enjoy running and every year I challenge myself to a 10 mile run to let myself win and accomplish something great. The first mile feels great, you got this, that was easy, just 9 more to go and I am done. But then pain starts to take over, the voice is back saying it is okay to quit you have nothing to lose. But you have so much to lose and it would hold you back from doing it again.
This is a step into the unknown and this place is often very scary. You don't know if you are going to make it or that your dream will burst in flames. Even if it will burst in flames you can say that you have tried and by giving it your all you know what you need to do differently the next time to make sure that it won't happen again. You learn what the pain is and you make small adjustments so that you can finish the run and be proud of what you have been able to achieve.
I have been running for a long time and I still regularly run to keep myself in shape and to stay healthy. I know from experience that the first mile feels great and during the run that the voice in your head tells you that it is enough. The same goes for following your dream. I have had countless times that I thought this is something that I should be doing, what if no one reads this or I will never reach my full potential. Should I really post about this subject? But I keep my head down and let all the negativity past me once I start writing my blog.
Almost there:
Once you are able to see the finish line more and more people are standing on the sideline to watch you finish your run. People are cheering for you and supporting you because you are doing something unique. The pain has given you the much needed energy that you can say I am going to finish this thing. You will adapt a new style and you will make needed changes that are able to your finish line.
This is the near most fun step that you are taking. This is the time where you can feel that all the training and preparations have been worth it. It is the time that you can feel the energy building up inside you. You know that you are almost there and nothing or nobody will stand in your way of reaching your desired goal. You have learned so much about yourself in this part, you know what you are made of and what you need to different the next time to make the process easier and more fun for yourself.
Sometimes I can feel so happy once I posted a blog, maybe I had a hard week or it was so busy that I hardly had time to think about what I was going to write about that week. But by keeping myself focused and making sure that I really had one real task for the week and that is my blog made me feel good. Once you push the publish button a relief comes from your shoulder and you know you just gave it your best to talk about a specific subject.
The finish:
Once you have finished you feel so proud and good about yourself. You feel like you can do anything in the world and no one can stop you from reaching your dreams. You have been working so hard for so long to get where you have finished. The race was long and for some people it does feel easier and they have to do less for it. But for others they need more time to get there. The most important thing is that you made it. No matter how you did it you have reached the finish line.
The most important part is that you take pride in what you have accomplished. Even if it is a little step it is a larger step for yourself. Do not compare yourself with others. They might have other qualities then you but you have other qualities then them. Only you can make sure that your goals are reached and only you can make your own dreams come true. If you fail there is also one person to blame and that is you. But if you fail and you are good you are able to see what you have done wrong and fix it so you won't make the same mistake again and the next time you will win for sure.
This kind of sums up what 52 weeks of blogging has done for me. Strong start and during the days, weeks and months you will encounter bumps in the road that will either slow your process or make you think about what you are actually doing. To keep everything going you need to stay focused on your end goal. I have had doubts about some posts about should or shouldn't I post about this subject. I also sometimes felt like I was being really open about what I normally am not. But to write an honest piece you need to show your strengths and weaknesses.
I am very proud of what I have accomplished. I can't believe that I have been able to keep up writing a blog every week for 52 weeks. But after a while it becomes a routine and everything falls in place. Along the way more and more people start reading it and the feedback that I have gotten was amazing. The reactions from people that they enjoyed reading it makes me motivated to do better, more and keep going. This year was a test to see what I am capable of and what this page can be. It has so much potential and I am going to keep going to produce even better content.
This was a great experience and next week there will be a new start to an even better and more interesting blog about success. I am going to continue on this road. I have bigger and bolder plans for 2021 and you will hear all about that soon. I want to thank you for the support. I hope you have learned something during this year or that I have been able to make you inspired to follow your own dreams. I don't know who all has been reading my blog and how much I have done to make you think or to inspire you. I would like you to leave in the comments your name, where you are from and a short description of how me or this blog has helped you in 2020. It could have inspired you to do something or it can make you think in a different way. I am interested to know who reads it and what you have learned.
Thank you very much!!
Let's make the best of 2021!!
Franklin, Moments2Success
