Week 49: Patience is key!!

Dear reader,

"The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious"

Sometimes in life you need to have patience. Because we are often in a hurry and we want something to happen sooner then later it is important to understand patience. With patience you can achieve a lot more. It gives you time to think, reevaluate or make better decisions then when you keep rushing in and out a project or investment. Sometimes patience can work in your favor and other times it is a great lesson that teaches you to wait or react.

This week I am going to look at patience. The reason I want to talk about patience is because it takes time to grow a tree or a flower. You need to plant a seed, give it water and sunlight and it will grow out of itself. The same thing I have learned from investing. For more then three years of investing and I can gladly see that patience has been key to make your investments grow. I am going to talk about this more further down this blog. I will be talking in debt more about patience and what it means for me, patience with regards to investing and how patience can make or break your success.

Patience is key:

There are many different motivational posts about patience. But if you read all of them they kind of say the same thing in just a different way. Whether the moment is not there yet, that it is the key to success and that you need to trust in all the work you have done. The definition states the same, you need to accept what is happening in this moment and you should not be afraid of what may or may not happen. If you have put in all the work that you could have possibly done then there is no more to do then wait and watch on the side line how things evolve. If you are not sure that you have done enough you need to do more the next time around.

I am not religious but I do think that things happen for a reason. That you meet specific people, go places or things that happen in your life. Some things you can't have any control over and others you can influence a lot. If a relationship comes to end there must be someone better for you out there or it is a sign that you need some time to develop on your own. The most important part is can you deal with patience or do you keep pulling things faster towards you to hope for a quick success?. One of my favorite posts are those of people digging for gold or diamonds and they give up too fast before they have reached out of patience to get what they truly desire.

Patience and investing:

There are two types of investors, short term and long term. For each of these investors types patience is key. For the short term investor you need the patience to get in and out of the market at the right time and make sure that you have gotten your desired investment goal. For the long term investor you need to be able to trust that your research that you have done will pay out in the future. By compounding or forecasting future profits you need to wait and see your investment grow slowly towards your desired goal.

I have learned a lot about patience by investing. Three main things I have learned are that if you compound and the assets start to grow your investments will follow. I am a great fan of this and I do believe that you can make money this way. The second thing I have learned about patience by investing is that whenever there is a downturn there is an opportunity. You are able to buy assets at a discount and sell them later on for a profit again. The third thing I have learned is to not listen to everybody that is going crazy when the market or a stock is going up and down. If you have done your research you trust what you have done and don't let anyone influence your investment decisions.

Patience and success:

Just as I mentioned in the previous paragraph, if you have patience with your investments then you can earn more then the people that are running around the market trying to hold on to their investments. Patience is a very important part of your success. If you can't wait for things to happen and fall into place you will be chasing success instead of that success is chasing you. What I mean by that is that after five YouTube videos or Instagram post you are not a success yet. Let the time come to you, develop your own style and follow your own path but be patient and everything will fall into place at once.

For almost 52 weeks I have been writing blogs about success and patience is also the key in writing a blog. I will say honestly that I don't have a lot of weekly readers. But that is part of the game, you need to stay consistent and patient. One by one more and more people will discover and read it. My expectation or my goal was never to have hundreds of readers right away. I actually enjoy that a few people read my blog because it makes it more special that they are lucky enough to read such great content.

The key is patience, that is something that we have discovered. You probably want a lot right from the start, but we both know that you have to start with 1. It is like compounding, with each step you take you double and double. Also you should never give up, keep going with what your dreams are. It might take a year, three or even five. Heck, it might even take ten but you got to believe in yourself and stay patient. I hope that if you are on your own journey that you can stay patient and good things come to people that are able to keep focused and don't rush to see where dreams fade away.

Thank you for reading and see you next week.

Week 60: Learn from others!!

Dear reader,  If there is something you want to do, know more about or become better at then often you can look for the right people that have been able to achieve what you want to do. By finding the right people that are able to teach you is far greater than keep making the same mistakes and failing at what you are willing to achieve. Most people that are good in something and are specialized are glad to help you to become better at whatever it is.  During the last few years I have been discovering most of my development myself. But at some moments and with somethings it is good to have someone you can ask for advice or more information. This week I am going to talk about what you can learn from others and what they can learn from you. In taking the steps to reach your success having someone around can have great advantages and maybe you can even help each other in some way or another.  Share the knowledge:   In this day and age it is easy to gain any type of knowle...

Week 12: Investing opportunity of a lifetime!!

Dear reader, These are crazy times, every country is going in lockdown, streets are empty, no airplanes in the sky. The world is changing as we know it. I use this time to educate myself. I have bought several books and I am planning on buying some more in the next weeks. But why is this the investing opportunity of a lifetime? Isn't the stock market falling down every day, aren't the business closed now and everyone is working from home..??? As Warren Buffet says: Attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy when others are fearful. Four opportunities of a lifetime: In our lifetime we will have four or five great business cycles where we can profit from. This means we are able to buy the business that we like so much at a discount from where it was several months ago. Think like you are doing your shopping. You love steaks, this week steak is at $5,- a pound, that's a lot for a steak, now you wait a week and you see that the same steak is sel...

Week 10: The everything bubble!!

Dear reader, The markets have been having some rough weeks. The outbreak of the Coronavirus has spread to over 100 countries and several countries have been in lockdown. The virus has impacted a lot on the world economy and will continue to do so for the rest of the year. Besides the Coronavirus there are more things affecting the global markets and the financial systems. The war on oil has spiked a great rally these last days and will continue to have great effect on different markets and industries. What is the everything bubble? I came about a video from Mike Maloney about a year and a half ago. Mike is big investor in global markets particularly to the world of precious metals such as gold and silver. His video's are of good inspiration and knowledge. He has a very openminded towards the different markets and the research he has done is very great to see things out of different perspectives. The title of his video is the everything bubble and I will leave a link t...
