Dear reader,
"A state of well being and contentment"
The real definition of the pursuit of happiness comes from the deceleration of independence. On July 4 1776 the deceleration of independence was adopted by the second continental congress. The second paragraph contains the phrase; Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Most people think that it is about going after the things that make you happy, the actual meaning is practicing and the experience of happiness.
In 2007 a movie was made about a business man named Chris Gardner, Will Smith who plays Chris tells his story about losing everything from his wife to his house and working hard to never give up on his dream to be a stockbroker. There are a lot of books that inspire me and so there are a few movies and documentaries. Often subjects that are related to success and a true story. This week I am going to dive in the movie, The Pursuit of Happiness. I am going to look at happiness and success and why these kinds of movies inspire and motivate me to do more.Happiness:
For everyone the definition of happiness can be different. It often correlates with joy, satisfaction and well being. Some people say that people with a lot of money are happier. Other people try to measure happiness in ratios against other factors. Some even say that true happiness does not exist. There are different times and moments that we are happier then others, it is like a sense of pleasure or satisfaction. Happiness is shown by a smile, the way someone walks or talks. Happiness is a mood. You can't by happiness.
When thinking about the real definition of happiness I can't really come up with one clear answer. For me happiness comes from being in the moment, living the moment and enjoying the moment. When you reflect back on the moment you can keep enjoying the happiness. I don't believe that happiness comes from money or that it comes from the job that you do. I do think that money and your job can influence you happiness. Happiness is a live problem that no matter what you do, where you live or how much money you make everyone has it.
Happiness and success:
Happiness is doing something that you love. When you really love something, a job or even a person you will do everything and anything to keep that happiness going. You enjoy the fulfillment that it gives you and it will make the most successful at what ever you enjoy doing so much. In the movie Chris tells his son that he can be what ever he want and that you should no one let you down on your dreams and happiness. They do that because they have not been able to find theirs.
For me happiness comes after the success, once you been able to keep up to your goal or you have been able to achieve something you could only dream off the happiness is great. I experience the most happiness when I have been working on something, chasing my dreams or my goals, this is because the longer I have been working on it or to it the greater the satisfaction will become. It kind of works like dopamine where you want more from. You might be happy in one area in your life and you could be lacking it in other areas of your life so don't let specific things ruin your happiness today. Keep with the end goal in mind and the happiness will find it's way.
Inspirational movies:
Not only books are inspiring but also movies and documentaries. Just like this one there are hundreds of movies like this that have a great success story. But the key essence of theses stories and it goes for real life is that you have to do the work. You need to be able to stay dedicated to your goal, dreams and desires, let no one stop you and only you know when you have made it.
I enjoy watching these kinds of movies just as I enjoy the success stories. Started from nothing but having a vision, a dream or a goal and keep going until you reached that point. You have to be able to keep up with the strong and weak times, don't give yourself up to temptation and keep fighting for what you believe. Often these movies include life lessons, how to treat other people with respect, how to go after what you want and that sometimes only you can see what you see.
Whether you think you are doing enough the answer is no, so do more. Put in the extra hour, add the extra weight, run the extra mile or call the extra time. With regards to your happiness there is no enough that you can do. You can only regret that you have not done enough and then you will have disappointment. The only question is when is it enough? I don't know, I do have moments that I think I am doing so much or that I think I can't handle any more, but after everything will come together naturally and you will say to your self that it was worth every moment.Thank you for reading and see you next week!!
