Dear reader,
We live in a 24 hour economy. Most stores are open seven days a week and online you can do your shopping 24 hours a day. With the use of the internet, social media and growing demand for online shopping our life's become digital and we are able to work around the clock. During the corona crisis most offices have been empty and people have been working from home now for the last few months. It is a new era in work, life and pleasure.
Today I going to take you on my journey in what I see as working, how I work and why working a 9 to 5 job is hardly not possible in today's environment. Also I am going to look at what success needs with regards to the time you work or the schedule you have.
Bye Bye 9 to 5:
There are tons of different jobs in the workforce, some need more structure then others. This is because of service or protection. You need to have employees in the supermarket for every hour that your are open. Just as that you need police officers in the street to be able to respond to every emergency. But for more and more companies working as company just a 9 to 5 doesn't work anymore. If people can order your products or you need to respond to someone overseas you need to work different times than 9 to 5.
Often when I have been looking at new and different jobs they want to have employees that don't have a 9 to 5 mentality. They want that you are flexible with your work and that you can and will work from any location and time possible. During the last few months people have been able to experience what it is like to work from home for several months and maybe partly divide the time that they have between work and life.
New era of working:
The new era of working needs to be efficient, productivity and time management are very important. You need to be able to maximize your days, your efforts and deliver right on time. Often times don't require information about how you did it but more about the end result. Often the amount of hours we have in a day are to short to do everything that you wish you could do. But because of less travel from and to work, less chatting and goofing around without going to the office should mean that more work should be done faster by the employees.
For me the new ear of working is being a digital nomad, starting up a small business. Working online from my blog and social media wherever and whenever I wish. The only person I have to report to is myself. It is fun, but challenging to. You need to stay honest to your self and if you don't do the work then it doesn't happen. But for me the main point is that I can work on my own terms and agreements. Whether it is right a way or at the last moment. When and how is up to me.
Work and success:
For a lot of people work and success mean different things. For some people it is working 14 hours a day for seven days a week and for others it means working 4 hours a week. There is no golden rule for the amount of hours that you work or that you put in to your work. It does all start off with putting every hour towards your business and working around the clock for a few years to create something. Then afterwards it is up to you and you can decide whether you want to work 14 or 4 hours.
I have a job at which I am required to be for 40 hours a week, this is my side hustle. I put in my hours writing my blogs, reading books, watching and listening to interesting people to gain inspiration. Step by step I am going to do more and on the days that I am not at my job I am putting in the work in my business. I am not going to use someone else's success formula but my own. Will it work? We shall see!
The world and the way we work will change more often in the future. What is laying a head of us, I don't know but either you use it to your advantage or struggle to make your dreams a reality.
