"The center of interest or activity"
Sometimes you have a week or a period that gets a way from you. The days go by so fast that the goals, tasks and everything you wanted to do get away from you. You wished that you could have done more, other things or you feel like you have not been productive. You have the saying let life happen or life happens. The choice is yours.
For me this last two weeks where like a roller coaster. I have been out for work or family time and other things like working out, working on my business, reading or taking time to relax have not been my main priority. You can let your focus go, but you need to be strong enough to gain back the focus and make a new plan. This week I am going to talk about focus, success and what I do whenever I have a period that has gone away from me.
Focus:
Like the definition states focus is the center of an interest or activity. When ever you want to focus you need to make sure that you know what it is that you are focusing on. Whether it is for work, family or anything else. If your focus is your job, you need to make sure what your project is and you need to know what you need to do to keep your focus. This means knowing how much time it requires, what kind of work you need to put in and what the possible end game is.
I mentioned in the introduction that I have lost my focus for the last few weeks. Unfortunately I had some losses within my family so I needed to shift my focus to something else that I normally do. Because of the long days, little sleep and being on the road I have dropped some stuff I normally do. The most important part is that you acknowledge that you need to get back in to things.
Regaining focus:
It is okay that you let somethings go because other things have become a bigger and more important priority. But when it comes back to regaining the focus and energy you need to make sure that you know what it is you want to focus on, also acknowledge that you need to make a plan to get back where you want to be. Maybe even learn from the past that when you have such a week or period you have the right tools to regain back the focus and be back on track in no time.
What I do is make a list, in the list I write down everything that has gotten away from me and what I want back to be able to get to the level I was at earlier. Some tasks are smaller than others and they need more or less focus than others. Once I made the list and I write even the small things It feels good to me and I feel that I have gained my focus. I use this for a few days until I feel that Everything that has been done and needed to be done got my full attention.
Focus and success:
Focus is one of those success words, like habits, principles, purpose and structure. Being able to have success you need to develop specific skills that make you more productive with the least amount of energy. You need to be able to deal with a lot and the most important thing is that you don't lose your focus and to be able to prioritize your focus.
Often the most successful people are able to shut them self off from the rest of the world and any other distractions that they can maintain full focus on the things that matter and are important. Bill Gates stacks up on a pile of books and takes week in a cabin so he can learn and read about new subjects or things that are important for him. For me it is having a pen and paper within reach that I can write down anything that comes to mind and that I think is important, just as taking daily walks without my phone so I can really think about what I need to do or gain inspiration about where I am focusing on.
