Dear reader,
There is no way around it. Our world has been invected by the corona virus. It started out at the end of 2019 in China and it has reached a global pandemic, with all great consequences. It has affected millions of people and it will continue to affect billions of people on a way that we have not seen. The world as we know it has changed and it has been affecting all.
For myself it has major impact, not only am I not able to work but it has major impact on my financial investments and strategies. Today in my blog I will describe how this virus has major impact but also major success for anyone and our planet.
The social impact:
I work in a restaurant and in the last week we have seen a major decline in guests. People have been buying up stock in the supermarket to be prepared to stay at home for a period of time. People have gone crazy and they have been stocking up in massive amounts of toilet paper. Why???
Not only does this have a major impact on our lives but it has restricted us to come in contact with other people and being able to go to social events.
There are mixed feelings about the social impact it has. All major events, sporting activities and restaurants have been closed and will not be open for the coming weeks. Even for the foreseeable future we don't know how much impact this will have on the continuation of our normal daily lives that we are used to.
The economic impact:
The economic impact is very big. A lot of business have to be closed until further notice. Not only the smaller business have been impacted but also the greater stock markets around the world feel the impact of a virus. With loosing more than 30% in a month and there is more to come. We in the western world are just starting to get a grip on the virus and trying to contain it. But not until we see a decline in cases and deaths we will see no economic recovery yet.
For all major investors and small time investors like myself the question is when do we put our money to work. We feel the economic impact and my prediction is that we haven't seen the bottom yet. By learning from the greatest investors of all time I have learned that these are the right moments to start investing. Only the stock market has seen major declines with 5 to 12% on a daily bases. Not until the market has been able to calm down is the right moment to jump in.
The environmental impact:
We only have one planet and have to take care of it. Because of the virus and countries going in lockdown this has a major impact on our planet and our future. With factories being closed in China, reduction in air travel and cars standing still this will do good for our future and the generations that are still to come. I hope that we can feel and see the major impact this will make on our planet and help us to survive one extra day to enjoy the time we have.
My advice:
Being at home or limited amount of time to do something it is the greatest opportunity to invest in yourself and to stay active. Don't spend your days watching Netflix. Start working on your dreams and goals you always had. Pick up some books and start reading, go for that morning run and make your self useful. Now is the time to do the things you never had the time for.
Stay save dear readers and see you next week!
